Research on Cognition and Inflammation

This study investigates the effects of inflammation on cognitive performance. We are looking for male and female participants between 65-80 years of age who consider themselves as ‘overweight’ or ‘obese’.

The current study will learn us more about the effects of inflammatory markers on specific brain functions. We will take a blood and saliva sample assessing inflammation, you will complete questionnaires about mood, sleep and health and you will perform computer ‘games’ measuring things such as attention and the ability to learn.

After completing an online screening questionnaire, you will be asked to attend one session at the University of Birmingham (School of Sport, Exercise and Rehabilitation Sciences) for about 2 hours and you will be compensated £20 for your time. In addition to that, we are very grateful for the invested time and effort.

Please contact Leonie Balter on if you are interested in participating, have any questions or if you want to receive more information about the study.
