Physical Activity Intervention for Loneliness (PAIL) in community-dwelling older adults: a feasibility study

We are looking for suitable volunteers to take part in a 12 Week outdoor group walking programme organised by doctoral research students.

Who are we looking for?

  • Older adults aged 60 years or over;
  • Inactive (less than 20 minutes of a regular exercise per week for the past month);
  • At risk of loneliness or social isolation (e.g. living alone, recently widowed, with a long-term care responsibility, etc.);
  • Able to walk without support (walking stick is okay);

What do I have to do?

You will attend a once weekly walking group session with a trained walk leader. This is an opportunity for you to make new friends, increase your physical activity and have a good time. You will attend 5 health assessments which will usually take about 30-minutes. These assessments will measure height, weight, resting blood pressure, and physical activity. You will be asked to complete some questionnaires and attend 2 focus group interviews.
